They might just be utilising the rail to transport the ice from A to B, it would be a lot easier than carrying it.
I still remember when trains went clickety clack because of the expansion gaps in the rails. Then some expert decided to weld up all those gaps so passengers wouldn’t have to put up with the noise. Since they welded those rails in my part of the world, rails have been buckling and causing major train delays. This happens here in normal summers and doesn’t have a lot to do with global warming. Another expert has now decided that they can fix this problem by cutting expansion gaps in the rails, and guess what, it works.
That may well be, but you have so many great winding roads for nice leisurely motorcycle rides many of which are sometimes 1 lane roads barely maintained and sometimes flooded. it is hard to parallel or equal some of them anywhere else in the world without having to go great distances
