I bet it's vacuum, not magnetic
Not a lot of metal there to for a magent to grab
Also, you could have a cam-actuated valve to turn the vacuum on and off at th right time to pick up and drop off the can

I noticed the rotor has a notch in it. If it is vacuum operated there would be no need of special valving because the pickup would be automatic anyhow and it kicks the can off when it sets it down and the notch rotates away from the can too.

Constant vacuum. There is an inner vacuum port, inside the nylon pick-up block, that lines up with the "suckers" when it rotates to the pick up position. The inner vacuum ports are slotted so there is vacuum until the "suckers" reach the end of the slot then the can is dropped off on the other side and the block continues to rotate to the pick-up position, no need to turn the vacuum on and off. Probably a regenerative vacuum pump. This type of tech is used a lot for pick-up on many types of machines especially in paper processing industries and also vacuum conveyor systems.

OK, This starts to make sense now. So what I am seeing in the the rotating cylinder at 0:06 are vacuum ports instead of magnets.
