I bet it's vacuum, not magnetic
Not a lot of metal there to for a magent to grab
Also, you could have a cam-actuated valve to turn the vacuum on and off at th right time to pick up and drop off the can

Constant vacuum. There is an inner vacuum port, inside the nylon pick-up block, that lines up with the "suckers" when it rotates to the pick up position. The inner vacuum ports are slotted so there is vacuum until the "suckers" reach the end of the slot then the can is dropped off on the other side and the block continues to rotate to the pick-up position, no need to turn the vacuum on and off. Probably a regenerative vacuum pump. This type of tech is used a lot for pick-up on many types of machines especially in paper processing industries and also vacuum conveyor systems.
