How many times did the bear break the ice while growing before it discovered this technique. BUT the bear did learn - awesome.
Who teaches kittens the litter box? Even newborn kittens without a mother! Who teaches birds navigational skills? Unlike human navigator, birds don't train for navigation. They can fly for up to 24 hours at a time non-stop on migration, and cover 2500 kilometers journey in under a week. Seabirds can travel millions of kilometers in a lifetime, yet how they navigate across a featureless ocean is beyond human understanding and beyond their modern sophisticated technology.
A litter box is an imitation of the cat's natural world. Most cats quickly adapt to litter box. Your Persian cat is an isolated case rather than the norm and suggest that something was wrong with the litter box. BUT the subject here is not the litter box. The question is: Who teaches animals to do what they do?
