    in my experience, if the document is laser printed or photocopied, tilting the page at the right angle allows me to read through the sharpie due to the change in "gloss"

    Both those work, especially when the Sharpie ink is a solvent of the printers ink, or label is slick compared to absorbent office paper...... The intermittent mark of this roller stamp would make reading difficult, but it's
    only 'Confidential' not 'Secret', and covers a lot of area fast.
