    Bob,
Congratulations on your finished project. Looking forward to seeing the 1:32 scale model trains created from the molds made by your CNC router project. I started model railroading when I was six with 027 gauge trains and then changed to HO scale at age ten and have been doing scratch building in HO most of my life. I attribute many of my woodworking, machining, drafting and electronics skills came from the model railroading.

I followed the same route. Early on, I had O gauge, then HO, then N, Now I scratch build in 1:32. I developed my own way of building molds, here are some pics. One of the molds that you see is a 4 inch section that I add to an MTH passenger car to stretch it out to make it scale, 85 ft, instead of 70 ft. That is a nice setup. Looks great.
As a retired IT guy and a DIY guy one day I just might have to try building one. Once I figure out where to start.....

    Hi Guys,

Yep, Bob is the master craftsman when it comes to making really detailed molds. I visited his shop last week and he does some truly amazing stuff.

Haven't heard from him since. Bet the chips are flying. When I left after my friend and I got his machine running he was smiling like a Cheshire cat. Ha Ha He has worked on this project for a long time and I know he is a happy camper now that it is running.
