I am doing half a dozen pegs for each of my mates who gave me a cot to break up. They’re made from the spindles.
Cut each spindle in half, and then each to length.
I saw some nice antique pegs, perhaps Shaker made, and thought to copy, but balked at turning.
I remember, as a child, the Romanies coming to the door with pegs like these. Imagine doing them on a pole lathe, bodging in the woods. I used a bandsaw and drill press. Sanding has been rather tedious. Wife says she WON’T use them for her smalls, but they’re alright for jeans!
