    It's the same concept as a kneaded eraser -- it adsorbs particulates and won't ever let them go, but you can mush it around to expose fresh putty and it will keep cleaning until it gets saturated. I don't think it's a very efficient way to clean things, but a blob of the stuff will last a surprisingly long time.
