If you hang it on the side, isn’t the paint going to dry on the brush?

It is just like for taking a break, resting your hand or such, but not for hours, you are right.

Saw "paint brush mod", rolled eyes. But I had not seen this exact implementation; clever. I wonder if there's a Functional fixedness or similar such barrier that prevents us from inserting a screw into a tool. Also, something something magnets.

Similar concept, patented this past summer. Essentially a fancy version of tsbrownie's trick (plus the paintbrush handle in the patent is threaded to accept an extension pole; I need to think about that one). Click for full patent.

The real benefit of a screw fixed in a brush this way is for the screw to be fixed at the balance point of the brush when it's laying flat, imagine a see saw.
This allows the brush to be rotated in a drill with the screw in the chuck and after cleaning the brush simply start the drill & rotate the brush for 20 seconds or so and the bristles will be dry, ready for the next use.
This can be done to assist cleaning the brush too. It really works.
