This lucky young gentleman was gifted dad's 1972 Chevy Nova SS, bought new in 1972 for $2,980, and documented the 2 1/2 year restoration on the excellent forum at StevesNovaSite.com.
The car had sat since it incurred some damage racing a Javelin back in the day, and it became a popular home to a variety of rodents.
What's interesting here is that the thread starts off with just a lucky kid getting dad's sweet old ride for free, as people enviously check in with the standard "you dog!" comments, gushing over the matching numbers, the low mileage, and the original tires.
As the build progresses, you start to develop a lot of respect for the hard job this young man is doing on the restoration. He puts in long hours, builds some homemade stands, and it becomes a bit surprising how meticulous he is, especially for someone at his age and experience level.
As the build finishes up, he finds out that this is the car his parents drove off in to get married decades ago. While forum members post to congratulate him on the job, he gives a lot of credit for this build to the "skills and character" given to him by his parents.
