Charge air cooler pressure test cap

A truck came in with the complaint of no boost pressure
the first thing I did was to make a test cap to use my air compressor to find where the problem was.
I used a standard rubber plumbers cap to block off one tube at the turbo then cut a length of 3" PVC and cemented a cap to it then drilled the cap and installed a Schrader valve After applying air pressure I determined the cooler itself had been damaged in the recent accident So I replaced the cooler.Charge air cooler pressure test cap-img_20231116_142842cc.jpg

I have done this many times myself. Between all the guys in the shop we had quite an assortment of sizes. Thanks for your post.

As it turned out there was a long crack in the top of the cooler that one could have been welded but I noted that it looked like some of the tubes were cracked as well.
I have his truck back together with the new parts, but we still haven't received the insurance check yet
