We look at this crew change and think of how dangerous just getting to and from their work is. But think about this, someone had to build that lighthouse in the first place, which was probably a very long time ago on a submerged island, which may or may not be above water in low tide. Some type of coffer dam would have had to have been built to provide a reasonably dry area for the foundation construction. Every stone block, brick, and the concrete would have to be transported on ships and with equipment far less advanced than we have today

I had a fantastic scenario of her as the Siren of the Lighthouse, making it worth it to risk life getting to the tower.
