That's a pretty cool piece of equipment.
Initially I misinterpreted the video and thought you switched modules to change steering, and it couldn't change on the fly. But after looking at more videos on their site, I believe they were showing how easily it is to swap out a faulty unit for a new one. It appears the steering is programmable & dynamic for each module.
I worked for 25+ years at Intralox, a leading conveyor equipment corporation. I held a few positions with them, but spent my last 10-15 years as a mold maker. I typically didn't get to see installations, but my shop was next to the R&D area where many designs were tested. They have several innovative sorters and transfers available. Part of their philosophy is to keep everything end-user serviceable & rebuildable, as well as hygienic for food operations.
Below is an example of just two of their designs.

This is what keeps FedEx, UPS, USPS, DHL, and all the others competitive. Apparently, this installation is just being tested, no-where close to volume of fully operative depot.
The Gif is sped up some, but having witnessed these live, not by very much. You should see what package handlers [human] on the floor do trying to keep up.
