That's one thing that I have great respect for and not enough facility on my own. Knots! The stuff that can be done. I guess the only way to learn is to practice.

The ultimate knot reference is Ashley's Book of Knots. Pricey from Amazon...

    https://www.amazon.com/Ashley-Book-K...3-786e4cdc8f10

but sometimes can be found at library clearance sales.

    The best reference online is...

    https://www.animatedknots.com/

It not only describes the knot's use but shows step-by-step sequences to tie it. Highly recommended both as a reference and as a learning tool.

For an inexpensive alternative try a small book called "an ABC of KNOTS, by Eric Franklin. In no way as complete as " Ashley's Book of Knots" but it does offer brief explanations of how to make about 60 various types of knots, and the reasons why one knot would be used over another knot the one added plus is it is only 4-1/2 by 6 inches and about 1/8" thick very easy to stow it in a backpack without taking up valuable space.
Never try to tell me it can't be done
When I have to paint I use KBS products

Thanks Frank. I will look. I know how to make probably about 6 knots if I think it through. But there are so many more that are useful on tying this down and general day to day work.

There are many pocket-sized books of fishing knots available; just search Amazon with "fishing knot book". Monofilament is slippery stuff and many of the nautical knots are not well suited for it. If you use mono, it's worth getting one of these books.

I use the double fisherman's bend...

    https://www.animatedknots.com/double...mans-bend-knot

frequently because it's easy to remember and, despite locking tightly, is easy to undo.

I think as a kid I figured out this one totally by accident. That and desperation. I had no more lures to lose! Red and White Red Devil.
