My father got me odd jobs in factories from an early age in the school holidays and I well remember him telling me to get a trade when I started high school because;
"Get a trade otherwise you will probably end up working in a factory and once you have a Trade you can change Trade or go do whatever you want knowing you will always have something to fall back on"
Probably the best advice he ever gave me.
