I like my boats big, but my cabins small. In many states, cabins are built just under a specific square footage, for easier navigation of building codes. Even without such practical requirements, a large cabin isn't a cabin: it's a house.

This gem, built by spence on SmallCabin.com, is a great example of a great small cabin.

The first pic tells a lot of the story here. A couple of pickups, some buddies, some tents, smoke from the fire, the beginnings of the cabin going up. These guys are out in the cold and the wet, making it happen. Also, no lack of future Christmas trees!
