Beware the milled grip sections need to be well deburred, we had some French made gas regulators with Aluminium handle-wheel knobs that had razor sharp edges from being made that way, scrapped the lot when they 'expired' (the BCGA give such devices a 5 year 'life'), though once deburred the knobs have been useful for other things.

I have found some punches that had razor sharp knurlings on them as well. They were irritating even for my calloused hands
Never try to tell me it can't be done

Nice work, Homemade knobs do add a nice touch to projects.

As has already been mentioned the sharp edges on knobs like that can be a problem. I've found that one of the better ways to smooth out the edges is to use scotch bright wheels in a die grinder at the lathe. I've never gone full polish though.

The nice thing about DIY knobs is that you can add any feature you might need that can't be easily had with the pre made stuff.
