I picked this old 12" long boring bar up at a pawn shop years ago, it had been crashed into the work many times and the end was damaged to the point it would no longer hold an insert very well I needed it yesterday so I decided to do some quick repair to it until I have time to do a proper repair later on. The land that the insert sit in had been milled below where it was supposed to be And some one had been trying the hold 2 inserts on it using one as a cushion or back up[ because the nose of the bar was worn away.
I welded a triangular piece of steel on it to build up the depth and to extend the nose a bit to support the cutting point of the insert.
