I'd love one! Alas, no room for such a machine. Here's a short 2min video showing how non-automated, hand bookbinders do it. Many other examples on Youtube.

Book, what is a book? LOL just kidding but, a lot of schools don't use books anymore.

I used to teach with a woman whose job was to find and provide educational materials for special needs students. One day she had a pile of texts books, one for each subject for a student. She was cutting each page out with an Exact-O knife so she could run them through a scanner for a visually impaired student. This was before you could get digital books and large print was not available.

I told her I could save her some time if she trusted me with the books. While she kept working on the one book, I took the others to the shop. Wrapped each one with with masking tape. Put a brand new carbide blade on the table saw. Sliced off the spines of each one. When I got back with them all finished, she was still working on the first one.

I could find room in my shop for that, even though mine is packed full! How small is your shop?
    I went from over 600 sq.ft. to about 250!

In the middle at about 400 sf, but like yours, packed full. Oh, I'd probably rearrange and fit it in if someone gave it to me but space is precious and a small wooden plough like the one in the video is light, quiet and not used every week.

Do we have some book binders or bindery-restorers among us? Asking for a friend......
