Here is a batch of a dozen bolt tongs, made from carpenters' braces and pincers. They took longer to make than forging from bar, but used a lot less energy. I hope they will be good enough for the charity, Tools for Self Reliance, to send to Africa, for use by trainee smiths. My participation in this and a similar organisation, has enabled me to salvage broken or poor quality tools for recycling.
