beats a beating or killing a deranged person. can see applications. We had a bunch of police kill a lady who had a knife & was waving it around: yet a guy mumpling with a book and machetee and attacking old folk way hit by a neighbour with a pailing and subsequently tackled by police. Spurr of the moment decision. I can imagine the weight of all the necessary weaponry carried by our police "in case" . Sad World.

A mate of mine was cleaning beach toilets around 3am when he was attacked from behind by a drug affected guy. He was down and almost out when the automatic urinal flusher distracted the assailant & his adrelin kick in & escaped almost certain death.

Really, who would want to be a cop? They just hate going to domestic violence incidents ( as my police friends advise).

So, as long as the person requiring restraining, who is presumably acting aggressively and waving a weapon around and being generally agitated, agrees to calmly stand still and passively hold their arms to their sides, whilst 2 officers position themselves in the firing position, this will work?

exactly, & it's a subjective decision. this does look ok but capsacum (chili ) spray only works on some and is very painful even lethal. the guy "dummy" was extremely concerned about his personal parts. Off like a bullit is that contraption.

Shoulda' had Ravel's Bolero playing in the background. Interesting design and seems to work well with the laser pointer and almost exact location of the shot. If you miss them for some reason the Pow might stop them in their tracks. I wanted to see the dingle balls on the end of the cord...can't be very big.

    It was a sarcastic remark.

If the person requiring restraining continues to act agitated and flail about wildly then the device wont be effective. If the person drops their arms and becomes fully compliant then there would be no need for the device to be deployed.

I know it was tongue in cheek, and agree exactly, as a real menace wouldn't have a mannequin like composure

What happens if the guy suddenly drops down and these things wrap tightly around his neck? That won't end well...

Ballistics comes to mind. These things have a limited range and a measurable/calculable muzzle velocity and known mass. Unless aiming a the chest and the person is very, very quick I doubt that could happen unless he was in motion when pulling the trigger. He could put up his hands much quicker. If he was running away...shoot for the legs.

Of course there are other factors like recoil and trigger pressure to name a few and yet the laser pointer seem to be dialed in for that range and ballistics.
