This 32' yacht was built from a Mark Smaalder Kahuna design, by scottmacc on WoodenBoat.com.
The build thread stretches over seven years, with a good bit of detail on each phase of the boatbuilding project. The builder even delved into making tools while fabricating the lead keel. After buying an abandoned boat project and cutting its lead keel with a chainsaw, he built an oven and mold for melting the lead and casting it into a new keel. Three tries later, he succeeded.
If you've ever had to move a project in mid-build, you'll sympathize with this builder. He started out building the boat in a rented boat shop, and even finished the loft into an apartment so he could live with the project. Partway through, he had to have the boat trucked to a boat shed, then eventually back to the boat shop, and then again for completion outside.
The build thread is last posted in a couple of weeks ago, and the boat is almost ready for launch.
