I’m no expert however I think this is stamping sheet metal into a mesh. No welding involved.

If you look closely at the picture you can see the spot welds.

Seriously, I can’t for the life of me see any welding. I see what looks like lubricant forming drops between the shear’s clamp and the sheet workpiece as they separate. Other than that just the shear action slicing the sheet.

On second thought you are right. There is no welding sparks or anything else. Just oil dripping. Can’t weld with oil dripping.
