I tried it with the porcupine that comes to my door every night. He was NOT impressed.

Did the porcupine return the following night? Many times when they have been frightened, they move one never to return. Since they are a docile creature and do not possess any means of fighting. Their only defense is to raise their hair " quills' and swat with their tails. All 4 of my dogs have painfully learned to keep their distance and just bark at one until it leaves, and never to frighten it with no escape route.
Never try to tell me it can't be done

If you are talking about the bear, I don't think they even have a flight mode especially a male encountering another male. or a mother protecting her cubs. if the distance is great enough they may chose to ignore and move on but never flee.

Yeah he came right back. He doesn't care. Peanuts and apples are delicious. He gets more pissed off if I give him treats he doesn't like.
