hi guys
this a beam lathe stand i made following rob`s design (aka xynudu on youtube), he was kind to walk me thru some details that make this design work so well and i added a little tweak (really tiny tweak )
top beam
120mm channel iron 1430mm long (5" ish by 55" ish )
65mm x 6mm angle iron 500mm long (2 1/2" x 1/4" by 20")
25mm x 5mm strap 2 pcs at 200mm long
4 ea. 10mm 8.8 grade bolts
base
square tubing 50mm x 3mm (2" x 1/8")
75mm x 6mm strap 4 pcs(3" x 1/4")
it`s 850mm high (33.5") 500mm depth (20") almost 1500mm long (3 ft)
weighs about 100kg (220 pounds)
it`s not finished yet as a bank of drawers, a sheetmetal chip tray, and covers are still in process but it`s working now making parts and $$.
i know it`s not a clausing or a monarch but a well used chinese lathe... one lives with what the universe gives...
i anchored to the floor via 4 concrete expansion bolts, it`s solid solid no vibrations or anything. will get stiffer once finished not that it needs to.
anybody interested feel free to ask
pete
