I was on a mine site years ago that had a single piece of regular 18 gauge wire (think Harbor Freight), with garbage cheapo spade connectors crimped every 50 ft or so, run the length of the conveyor on the walkway side. You swat the wire, the spade connector pops out, the conveyor stops. We're talking multi-million dollar, 600 horsepower, 60" wide troughing conveyors. Every conveyor on site was like this. The site guys loved it because they didn't have to radio the control booth to turn conveyors on and off. They could just separate the nearest spade connector to shut the conveyor off, then CONNECT IT AGAIN TO ENERGIZE THE CONVEYOR. There's a lock-out-tag-out system for ya.
This homemade plywood solution is better than that mine site.
