Congratulations bobs409 - your Bandsaw Fixture Plate is the Homemade Tool of the Week!

We've certainly seen our fair share of fixture plates. To win this award with one, you have to do a really good job, and it's obvious that you have.

I should also note that, with our recent influx of talented YouTubers raining excellent homemade tools on us, we've been able to do something really important for intellectually-driven Communities of Practice (that's us) - we've upped our difficulty level. We benefit greatly from a perpetually increasing challenge, and it's good to see the same dynamic in play with both our new and old members: the cream still rises to the top.

Is there an advantage using rectangular tube instead of just a 1/4 plate?
I have been using a 1/4 inch plate with my studs and strap clamps from the mill fixture plates.

No, I just pulled that from my scraps when I made it. It was easier to tap the holes though.

Tube [or channel] adds benefit when studs protruding from below are not pushing the fixture out of perpendicular with blade. A bit of milling on channel legs insures a good reliable parallel, plus scrap channel is found easier than box tubing.
