    Gently heating the tip often works as well.

    Of course, once you get it working, you still have a writing tool only marginally better than an engraving chisel. The ultimate writing tool is still the fountain pen although the Pilot G2 gel pen is more practical and a good contender in performance.

    Can you tell that I grew up in an era when people still wrote letters by hand?
