    Hi Rick,

    Welcome!

Sounds neat! I'll be looking forward to seeing some pics of your projects underway.

If you post any specific questions you might have in our Help Me Build subforum, you're sure to receive some useful replies.

Are you planning to scratch-build or will you be working from a kit?

I plan to Kitbash the Model Shipbuilders Rattlesnake, it is my first build. I am a retired carpenter and enjoy building anything thing using wood. I have built 3 wood Kayaks, 2 from kits 1 from plans, a stand up paddle board from plans and carve all my own paddles. Just completed a garden wagon with removable sides for my wife. I figure why buy it if I can build it.

"Why buy it", indeed! I'm a repeat offender/builder, myself, though of the vehicular sort. Airplanes, motorcycles, and most recently a kit car.

The Rattlesnake looks to be an ambitious first ship build; I can't wait to see your progress with it.

I had to look up "kitbashing"!

Be sure to check out our BoatBuilds.net site if you haven't already. Although I think you can argue that the models are often harder to build than the fullsize.

As a kid, I used to build model clipper ships. The most painstaking work was doing the rigging. Your introduction reminded me that I still had some of the rigging tools I made. I'll take a photo and do a writeup and publish it under a separate heading.

Looking forward to seeing that model ship. As a former modeler myself, I do appreciate the skill, effort, and time that goes into building such things. Welcome to the forums!
