    Articulated Lathe Indicator Mount

I made this mount for a dial indicator on my lathe and it's the handiest one yet. I had an extra ways stop and I took the articulating arm from a magnetic indicator base and threaded the clamp to mount the arm to it. Now my indicator is rock solid and right there if I need it, adjusts the indicator to any position quickly via the arm, and can quickly move or even come off by loosening the ways stop clamp lever. This was too easy and I should have done this long ago.

It's even more useful with the arm mounted to the inside of the clamp than to the outside and the clamp handle is easier to get to. I'm lovin' this thang.

My indicator mount has proved to be so useful that I bought a second arm and mounted it to the other side of the clamp and along with a 2" indicator it's opened up even more possibilities. Now I can indicate along two axes simultaneously which can make it useful for turning tapers or eliminate the need to reset the indicator during a long turn. There's more things that have to be positioned together but it's still overall much faster than anything I tried before, and either indicator can be quickly moved out of the way when it's not needed.

I wanted to find a green arm so that I would have marked port and starboard indicators but it apparently wasn't meant to be.

I think I'll call it an ARO (analog read out).
