    I have one of these and they used to be quite cheap. The little shims are 1mm in thickness, this was designed and yes was used for ww2 German U Boats, a quick google will find this too, They are also quite collectible too now, there have also been some modern day copies using a similar concept where only 1 spanner or wrench needed to be carried
