This didn't have to happen. The organization and conduct of these air show events needs to get a close look. It's been my personal observation and experience in the world of land speed racing (I think this applies to other major motorsports also) that a single overarching rules making organization of long standing needs to be in place to insure the safety. And this organization must be the one that conducts the events as well as makes the rules. Whether for profit or non-profit does not matter as much as the continuity of operation over years that creates the best set of procedures unique to any dangerous sport. Shorter lived or smaller organizations may handle portions of the event where safety is a routine, like crowd control, parking, ticketing, etc. But the people in charge of running "the show" must be guided by a depth of experience, maturity and especially unquestioned respect by everyone involved. You cannot have safety related decisions being made by inexperienced promoters whose objective is immediate monetary or other gain. Nor can you have some "big money" participant throwing their weight around.
