Additional screw cutting quick change gearbox

Finally made this very important lathe modification.

This lathe (G0602 type) already has a built-in gearbox for all metric pitches from 0.25 to 3.5 millimeters. Also all imperial pitches in the range 8 to 72 TPI, but I don't need them. But to do that and also to change to power feed pitches it is required to use change gears. Not too complicated, but it is time consuming.

27-tooth and 60-tooth change gears is the option which gives the finest pitches. Nine of them. Combined with 5 different pitches from new gearbox it makes 45 pitches. As it can be seen from threads @ feeds chart there are all metric pitches in the range 0.25 to 3.5 mm available without use of any tool. Pitches can be changed in a few seconds

    Materials used:

    steel plate 10mm, 12 mm
    steel round pipe 3" dia
    various gears 45# steel
    stainless steel shafts dia 14mm
    6201 ball bearings
4 washers (made from 1 HRK coins) spacers between gears
    Aluminum 6061

    Cheers

Welcome back again, with yet another amazing build, LMM!
Personally, I had to run the video at 50% speed, and stop occasionally to try grasping your design considerations and set-ups!
Well worth the time, though and some really good food for thought for me!
Next tool of the week, perhaps?

    All the best!
    Johan

    Thanks for nice words, DIYSwede,

Yes. It is better to watch some parts with reduced speed. I wanted to make video clip shorter than 10 minutes and some parts, like making of the shaft, are even running at 12 x speed.

    Cheers
    LMMM
