    The new longer bed profile痴 a bit different than the old one so I値l at least need to fit the tailstock base to it - but I知 not sure how adjustable that will need to be for drilling.

    To bore it, between centers, I値l probably just push or drag it with a pad between it and the carriage. Maybe with a weight on top?

    Mine will probably be solid but South Bend, and I think Atlas, made lever tailstock turrets with stops on the back like on the Lorch, but with the stop shaft running through the center of the ram.

    I considered doing that at one time also, but never carried it out. Perhaps it was because I did not want to buy a second tailstock to have at hand while I worked on improving my old one.

    I’ve used a steady rest with a bushing instead of the tailstock for turning to gain some working length.
