    This is one of those tips that can really give you better accuracy with cuts and make sure 90˚ cuts are really 90˚ cuts.

    Similar burrs occur in metalworking. That is why 90 degree corners on machine tools often have a small relief carved out at the vertex. This allows the burr to fit into the relief space and not affect the alignment with the orthogonal surfaces. Nevertheless, just as with wood, the burrs should be removed before the workpiece is employed in the next stage of its construction.

    Exactly. There was a time when I couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting 90˚ cuts, and it mostly happened with maple. Maple, of course, is one of the most difficult woods as you'll almost always tear the grains instead of sheering them.
