    2" x 72" Double Belt Grinder/Sander

WIP Finally got my Baldor, 3 H.P. double grinder almost finished. I need to add some lighting and I have a Grit Grabber double dust collector to add. This set up cost me a case of cheap beer! My friend gave me the grinder and dust collector. Guys thought the 2" x 12" grinding wheel was cracked (It wasn't)and were afraid of it, so they threw the whole thing in the dumpster! The steel plates were plates I kept so they were free as well.2" x 72" Double Belt Grinder/Sander-img_1020.jpg2" x 72" Double Belt Grinder/Sander-img_1021.jpg2" x 72" Double Belt Grinder/Sander-img_1023.jpg2" x 72" Double Belt Grinder/Sander-img_1024.jpg2" x 72" Double Belt Grinder/Sander-img_1025.jpg2" x 72" Double Belt Grinder/Sander-img_1026.jpg2" x 72" Double Belt Grinder/Sander-img_1027.jpg

I have 5 different grinders set up on that bench. The guy tried to give me that Baldor motor with a 2 x 12 grinding wheel and the same size wire wheel but I turned him down for over a year because I didn't think I would ever use it. Then I thought of building the double belt sander and it is a beast!

Its 1500 rpms on 220 volt, 3 phase, 3 HP, and 1800 rpms on 480 volts. You made me realize the difference between a grinder and a buffer motor. The grinder is meant for a 2 x 12" heavy wheel, thus the slower rpms, where as I have a Baldor buffer motor nent to it which is 220 volt, single phase that runs at 3,600 rpms. It also has a longer shaft and housing to probably be able to fit longer and wider parts in to them.
