Yugo sales in the USA were met with several roadblocks early on. the funny thing is Zastavas (Yugos) sold in non-western countries seemed to have better reliabilities
the Yugo name really started to suffer once grossly underpowered models equipped with automatic transmissions and air-conditioning a whopping 450 of them shipped to the USA.

A friend of mine in HS had one. I remember him driving it once and it then lived in his back yard for years. Do not think he ever got it repaired. I actually saw one on the road last year here in Western North Carolina. Like seeing a unicorn.

Downhill doesn't count. The hard top models selling feature was a heated rear window, for pushing in cold weather. The convertible offered padding for warm weather after breakdowns?
