Yeah, but it was nothin' compared to the Antarctic Blue Super Sports Wagon with the CB and optional Rally Fun Pack.

Back when you could haul a full sheet of plywood in a car! Can't do that in 90% of trucks now !

And yet the trucks are twice as large as they were in the 90s. How did they get so much bigger and so much less useful?

My Dad had a 2003 GMC Sierra Classic. Truck, 8 foot box, two wheel drive. We needed a bumper. So a friend says take one off of that 78 suburban. The Suburban had a bumper 7 inches wider. Trucks are smaller in the ways that matter. Try finding a real 8 foot box truck nowadays!

That 2003 Sierra was still a normal sized truck that was built for utility. 2003 was before everything went stupid. It wasn't until 2006-2010 that trucks got fat in all the wrong places. The new Ranger is as large as a '90s F150, weighs 300 lbs more, and comes with either a 5 ft or a 6 ft bed. I had a rental Ram something-er-other a few years ago in Northern Alberta. I had to jump to get into the cab. It had a 6 ft bed. I'd buy an old 4x4 S10 or Sonoma if I could. Unfortunately they've all rotted away to dust long ago.
