I liked ours, too! The exploding hotdog or two wasn't a problem, and the "smoke" he shows at the end is actually steam. It's easy to make one of these in non-OSHA approved form with a couple of stainless nails and an old power cord. You don't need the lid, unless you you can't resist touching an electrified weenie while it cooks.
