1953 was probably the beginning true sports car designs and the era of the copycats in sports cars so many manufactures had very similar shaped designs
Mercedes w194 actually came about in 1952 went into production as the 300SL in 54 the 190Sl in 55, the Corvette 53, the Nash Healey, Kaiser Darrin, Austin Healey, Porsche 550. To name a few. What made them similar? Size for one all were low height comparatively close in width 2 passengers for the most part. What made them copycats? in some years a few manufactures even shared some of the same Sheetmetal and trims with other manufactures, But that was nothing new coups and sedans even pickups shared components such as trims Sheetmetal and mechanical parts throughout the ages. The smaller sleek looking sports cars ruled until the era of the muscle cars came into existence, but never fully fell out of favor in Europe until the super cars came along
Never try to tell me it can't be done
When I have to paint I use KBS products

Friend of mine worked a long time for a luxury item exporter, clothing, watches and jewelry, boats and especially cars. Europe, Middle East and parts of Asia are figuratively awash in 70's Road Runners, Mustangs, Corvettes, 50's Chris Craft, etc. He's been there from Ireland to Italy to Egypt, says exhaust notes resound off narrow streets better than anywhere.
