Anyone know if the pilots lived from this accident? Thought I saw a bale from at least one aircraft.

Hard to believe that they were doing an air show in 1944 with all the needs of war...

It may have been a way of selling war bonds or enticing recruits to join.

My feeling as well. Trying to raise awareness and attract new recruits. I have read maybe five books written by Aces after the war. Many of the boys/ men/ hero's that made it home near the end of their tour were ordered to make the rounds around the country to just that. Unfortunately some of those that did make it home and toured our great county did die due to mechanical failure. Sad, that after all they did for this country / war. To make it through
the war then perish from that type of mishap.

My Greatest gratitude goes to their sacrifice and millions others!
