    Low aspect ratio? Yup. But that incidence angle and chord length! And what radial engine was small enveloped to fit the fuselage and produce sufficient power to fly?

    Mr. William Bushnell Stout specialized in unconventional (ugly) aircraft but all were flyable, not popular.
