That is very cool!! Who will be the first to make one? Does not even have to be so ornate.
Fire prevention was obviously at the forefront of some people's minds back in the olden days! As well as frugality: Why let a candle burn unnecessarily if you're asleep? Of course it would be bad if you're climbing those steep, stone steps in the dark and your automatic candle snuffer snuffed out your only light source!

Attach a couple of wires to it and use it as a time delay for explosives
