Took an automotive AC compressor - 1 inch input/output hoses so not a small one - and adapted it to be used between a power source (electric motor) and a belt-driven machine. Here is the face plate removed and lathed to balance for further lathe work for bearings. Lost some meat around two of the bolt holes but using these for index pins and the other four are plenty. Attachment 5891I lathed the back of the face plate to allow a tight fit to the mount The steel insert where the main shaft goes through the plate is punched out from front side of face plate. Here is the lathed centre hole with bearing press-fitted The clutch plates for this model AC are held in place by external clips and a straight-cut-keyed shaft so it was easy to make.
